Website security

A website enhances your online presence beyond prospective customers and to those who may wish to do harm.

To safeguard your website and business from cyber threats, every website I design includes essential security features as standard*.

Web Application Firewall (WAF)

This ensures strong website security. Unlike plugins, WAF offers server-side defence, protecting against common online threats like XSS and DDoS attacks. It maintains your website's security against known and emerging risks, providing a safer online environment.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Adds an extra layer of security to account access. Users must provide two forms of identification, typically a password and a secondary verification method like a smartphone, reducing the risk of unauthorised access, even if passwords are compromised.

Constantly Updated Threats List

Regularly updating the threats list is vital for website security. With cyber threats evolving constantly, staying informed about current risks enables proactive protection measures. This ensures the safety of sensitive data and maintains the website's integrity.

Secure Cloud Backups

I provide secure cloud backups as standard to all my clients, with daily backups performed at a time of your choosing. This ensures your data is always protected with encryption, redundancy, and quick restoration features.

Limit Login Attempts

Restrict login attempts to deter unauthorised access. After reaching the limit, the originating IP is blocked: 1 hour initially, then 24 hours if the attempts continue, and finally 7 days for persistent attempts.

Good Housekeeping

Basic good housekeeping includes making sure passwords are strong, ensuring usernames aren't too obvious, and that physical copies of passwords and other sensitive data isn't left lying around the workplace.

*All of the above security arrangements assume that you will be using SiteGround for your WordPress hosting. I cannot guarantee any of the above if you use a different hosting provider.
